BATAVIA, OH – June 1, 2021 – R&D Optical Lab, one of the nation’s leading independent optical labs, purchased a larger 6,000 square-foot facility at 4024 Bach Buxton Road in Clermont County to accommodate continued strong growth from its prescription lenses business for both retail and safety customers.
R&D Optical Lab opened in 2018 at 4286 Mt. Carmel-Tobasco Road and saw strong growth from its retail customers with the company’s Visual Perfection HD Digital Lenses and non-glare capabilities. R&D then added one of the highest quality anti-fog coatings in the industry last year during the Covid-19 outbreak that immediately translated into solid growth from new safety customers.
“This move will allow us to expand capacity to process orders and do more difficult jobs that other optical labs won’t do such as slab offs, high powers and base curve jobs. We pride ourselves on doing the hard jobs.” said R&D Optical Lab President Ronald Cooke. Jr. “R&D’s new and improved state-of-the-art optical lab allows us to produce all prescription lenses at the highest quality for our retail customers. The new facility will feature Schneider digital equipment, a Fusion coating unit that offers one of the strongest non-glare lenses, the top AR machine from Leybold Optics and a new Anti-Fog Coating machine.” The new facility is expected to up and running 2 shifts per day later this month.
Visual Perfection Fog Free has been one of the growth drivers during this past year after Covid-19 hit. R&D provides one of the highest quality anti-fog coatings in the industry and their quick turnaround times keeps customers coming back. Ronald noted that “Our VP Fog Free is applied on the back side of lenses and because of its strong properties the customer doesn’t have to re-apply it ever again. It’s another way we can provide a top-quality product that keeps our Eyecare Provider (ECP) customers seeing clearly with a great return on investment.”
