This week marks an inaugural event we can all get behind as we kick off #MemberOfTheWeek for 2017! We were lucky enough to catch up with Matt Ryder; General Manager, Fry Cook and Cashier extraordinaire at Raising Cane’s located at 826 Eastgate N Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45245. Matt graduated from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As a certified Executive Chef, Matt has mastered both Back of House Operations and Front of House operations working in every capacity conceivable; which would eventually take him all over the country. Matt finally landed back in his hometown of Cincinnati where he was put in charge of opening the Chart House in Newport, KY. Matt would go on to become part owner of the Bone Fish Grill before selling off his stake to find a position that afforded him more time interacting with his customers and with the community. He found that opportunity along with an amazing company culture at Raising Cane’s.

How long have you been in the Business? For almost 20 years. I started in the food industry at 16yoa shucking oysters part time at J’s Fresh Seafood here in Cincinnati, OH. I got out of the industry long enough to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology before my passion for the restaurant industry sucked me back in.

Where would we find you when you were not at work? I am a passionate soccer fan. You could find me still playing rain or shine in my Norther Kentucky soccer league I still participate in, Coaching youth soccer or found about town volunteering as an “ambassador” for the FC Cincinnati Soccer Club.

As a fellow soccer fan I have to ask, Messi or Ronaldo? Hands down Lionel Messi….Obviously
