Why are you seeking this office?
To represent the interests of the citizens and business community of Clermont County.

What in your background or experiences qualifies you to understand the unique needs facing small businesses?
I am an experienced legislator that has served at the local level, state level, federal level and currently at the state level.  I am a lifelong resident of Clermont County and have been actively involved throughout my life. My family made their living as small business owners. Currently, I have a daughter, brother, and nephew that own and operate small businesses in this community.

What are your three most important policy priorities? What do you hope will be the impact of implementing these policies?
Jobs: new job creation, expanding existing jobs and retaining the jobs here.  To do this we must invest in workforce development, transportation and affordable housing.

In your opinion, what are the two most important challenges facing Clermont County and how do you propose to address them?
Transportation and workforce development.  Ensuring the transportation Budget addresses our needs and utilizing public-private partnerships to expand workforce development.

The business community in Clermont County is critical to our community’s long-term viability. How would you propose that you, as an elected official, work with the business community to ensure that fees, taxes, regulatory structures, tax incentives and service philosophy allow businesses to be successful?
Knowing the concerns of the business community and addressing their needs are important.  Utilizing the Chamber’s voice, having roundtable discussions and meeting privately with business executives is the best way to understand and address their concerns.  Asking for input on new legislation is essential to make our community business friendly.

As a member of an elected body, how would you work with your colleagues to build relationships and build consensus for your ideas?
Developing personal relationships is important.  Establishing trust is critical in building relationships.  Communication is key.  Seeking input from members allows you to address concerns they may have or ways to improve your legislation.  Keeping leadership informed is vital.
