Sharefax Credit Union is proud to announce the winners of the 2019 Donald Jeffers Scholarships.

Erin Jennings is a student at Northern Kentucky University majoring in Social Work. Erin has been very thrifty in her efforts to save money for college including saving the money she earned from her livestock projects shown at the county fair. She invested her money in certificates at Sharefax so it could earn a higher interest rate.  Erin continues to work as a babysitter/housecleaner to pay for college. Her essay discussed how she learned to save at an early age thanks to her parents. She followed their example with financial lessons like “you never spend more than what you can cover” and “wait a week and see if you still want it.” Erin hopes that her savings and scholarships like the Donald Jeffers Scholarship will help her get out of college debt-free. Minoring in Mental Health & Addictions, Social Justice, and Women & Gender Studies, she plans to continue her education with her Masters in Social Work. She wants to work as a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma counselor.

Jason Keith is a senior at West Clermont High School. Jason was  inspired to make responsible decisions about money from his father’s guidance. He learned to save and create a solid plan for his financial future at a young age with his allowance money. In school, Jason completed a class on personal finance that increased his knowledge of money management. He also saw the pitfalls that his friends and co-workers experienced due to poor financial choices. This motivated him to make more money and better decisions about his financial future. Jason found opportunities like shoveling snow and cutting grass, and he even made money with his hobby of collecting, restoring and reselling athletic shoes! He also saved enough money to buy his first car. Jason plans to attend the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. He plans to pursue a degree in Urban Planning and concentrated interests in Historical Preservation.

Sharefax Credit Union offers the annual scholarship to graduating seniors and college students as a tribute to the late Donald Jeffers, former Sharefax employee. Jeffers worked as the Branch Manager of the Evendale office prior to his death. Sharefax is proud to honor his memory with this scholarship as a way to support our student members.
