How long have you been in business and what do you do?

My wife, Sabina, and I first opened Hand & Stone in Mason in 2015.  We recently expanded to open the Eastgate location in 2017.  We have been so pleased with the support that we have received from the business community in Eastgate and all of our wonderful clients.  Eastgate and Clermont County has been a great location for the business.  Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa provides professional spa experiences at affordable prices, seven days a week.  We bring the health and restorative benefits of professional massage and skin care at a price point that allows us to serve a broad audience in our communities.  Guests entering our spas will be enveloped in soothing sounds and aromas while the journey to relaxation and restoration awaits.

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and Spa Gift Cards make an excellent gift!!!

What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?

I still have a lot to learn to improve my own leadership.  However, my advice would be the same for someone going into leadership for the first time or for the fifth time.

Be humble.  Recognize the talents of your team’s members…ask questions, listen, and learn from them.

Be mindful of your own actions.  How do you respond to a challenge?  How do you communicate with customers and team members?  How do you handle adversity and ambiguity?  Your example is the one that will set the bar for how others will act in similar situations.

Be clear in your expectations and support your team to exceed them.  It is important that every member of the team knows what is expected of him/her, and how well the expectations are being met.  It is equally important that team members are offered the proper training and professional development opportunities to excel in their role, and to feel as though they are advancing in their capabilities for future opportunities.

Where would we find you on a typical Saturday?

We have awesome team members and leadership at the spas that allow us to get away and spend time with our friends and family on Saturdays. You can usually find Sabina and I spending time with our 9 year old daughter Sarah and 8 year old son John.  That might mean coaching one of their sports teams, driving girl scouts to an event, making a trip to Jungle Jim’s, or just hiking in one of the local parks.

If you were to win the lottery, what is the first purchase you would make?

Tough question.  I think I would buy a new minivan for Sabina first, as her current vehicle has seen better days.  After that, I would look for 100 acres or so in Clermont County with woods, a fishing pond, and some hiking trails, to create a great place to spend time with family and friends.
